George And Amal Clooney’s UK Wedding Party Leads To TripAdvisor Complaint
The loved up newlyweds hosted a lavish celebration in the English countryside this weekend but not everyone was happy for the new couple.
George and Amal booked out the uber-posh Danesfield House in Buckinghamshire this weekend for yet another wedding party with invited guests including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Ben Affleck and Meryl Streep.
With all those Hollywood A-listers knocking about, there wasn’t much room for common civilians as one disgruntled TripAdvisor user revealed.

Ned Benson on The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby
Conversations with leading cultural figures
— —
Following its screening at the London Film Festival, we speak to director Ned Benson about his mesmerising debut, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby
On meeting Jessica Chastain at a screening for his first short film…
“There were, like 12 people in the audience at this film festival in LA and most of them were the filmmakers. Afterwards I’m in the lobby and this girl comes running up to me saying, ‘did you write that film?’ I said yeah and she was like, I wanna work with you, and I was like – why?! She had just graduated from Juilliard – she happened to be Jessica – and she had done one episode of ER. My producer and I went to see her do a play in New York and we became friends, and have been trying to do movies together ever since.”
On writing the script…
“Ten years ago I started writing a script that became the Him version and then Jessica got involved and read that script and started asking questions about her character. So I thought, why don’t I write a whole other script to show the female perspective? I wanted to make a film about relationships so I thought, what better way to do that than to show the male and female perspectives? So we wound up with this 223-page script, with a first time director, essentially a first time producer and an actress, Jessica, who hadn’t really done much – so we were in really good shape right then. Then this really cool thing happened, Jessica’s career started to take off and people started to think that the concept was crazy enough to make.”

Mackage Spring 2015: All the photos from the runway show and after party at Toronto Fashion Week
Mackage Spring 2015: All the photos from the runway show and after party at Toronto Fashion Week
has been heavy on the leather front, thanks to an extra chill in the
air, but before we could get too caught up in dreading the cold
months ahead of us, we were reminded that we won’t have to give up our
beloved leather once the weather warms up again, thanks to the Mackage Spring 2015 show. Inspired by their travels, Montreal-based duo Elisa Dahan and Eran Elfassy showed
everything from classic interpretations of leatherwear to bold pieces
not for the faint of heart. From neon fringe skirts, to perforated
leather dresses, and laser-cut and mesh detailing on shorts and sleeves,
the appeal of multi-texture is hard to resist, especially when
contrasted with breezy chiffon tunics.
While leather on leather (on leather on leather…) came in unusual forms, like wrap skirts and hot pink hot pants, it was also showcased in more traditional pieces, like hooded bombers, motorcycle jackets and as an accent to classic trenches. While last spring, Dahan and Elfassy seemed to be enamoured with bright shades of orange paired with subdued olive green, this season, yellow, electric blue and highlighter pink were welcome—and borderline hypnotizing—additions to the outerwear’s darker aesthetic. With British-born DJ Chelsea Leyland spinning tracks from the likes of Ace of Base, and models wearing a bright pink but worn-in lip colour and hair tied into a messy low knot, the look and feel was low-key and effortlessly cool.
Later that night, we made our way to the Mackage x Notable after party, held at EFS on Toronto’s King Street. Leyland took her spot behind the turntables and guests like Notable.ca’s CEO Julian Brass, Essie Canada’s lead nail artist Rita Remark and Jay Strut took in the sounds until the wee hours of the morning. Even some Toronto Raptors showed up! Point guard Greivis Vásquez was on hand at the Mackage x Notable after party, but no word on how being 6-foot-5 has affected his search for the perfect leather jacket.

Fashion Blows: See the photos from the Isabella Blow exhibit launch honouring the late fashion icon
Fashion Blows: See the photos from the Isabella Blow exhibit launch honouring the late fashion icon
Last night’s Fashion Blows, held in The Room at The Bay Queen St and named for the late fashion maverick Isabella Blow, was a fashion feast, between the guests (Stacey Jordan and Amoryn Engel in feathered headdresses! A turbaned Nicholas Mellamphy in embroidered Vika Gazinskaya robe!) and the trippy McQueens on display from Blow’s own closet.
And then there was the event’s guest of honour Daphne Guinness, in a Sharon Stone-style casual/formal mix of Wolford pullover and tiered Alaia skirt, with a strip of sparkle (“Can’t remember where that came from, it’s about 15 years old”) wound around her shoulders and pinned with a diamond brooch. Topping it all off was a vertical veil by the world’s greatest milliner Philip Treacy, who delivered a touching tribute to Blow. The former fashion editor gave him and Alexander McQueen their starts in the business, but never believed in herself, ending her life in 2007.
But in the spirit something-good-must-come-from-tragedy, Guinness bought up Blow’s archive and created the Isabella Blow Foundation to support new talent and further research into depression and mental health. The proceeds from last night go to CAMH and to send a budding Canadian talent to London’s Central Saint Martin’s, opening the door to a thriving career in fashion.
